TECHNICAL SERVICE MANAGER

 

Our client in Edenvale is looking for a Technical Service Manager to join their team.

This role involves leading and managing the Technical Department to ensure the delivery of high-quality technical support, network commissioning, repairs, and after-sales service. The role is accountable for compliance with SLAs and contractual obligations, continuous system performance improvement, and measurable enhancements in customer satisfaction.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Technical & Customer Support Leadership

 

  • Ensure outstanding customer service across equipment delivery, commissioning, repairs, quoting, and technical support.
  • Monitor response times, service quality, resolution rates, and support visits.
  • Oversee 24-hour standby services and reaction time standards.

 

Quality Control & Fault Management

 

  • Maintain quality control across manufacturing, testing, and run-up operations.
  • Record, analyse, and report manufacturing and field faults.
  • Identify recurring issues, liaise with R&D, and manage defective parts.
  • Include fault and quality trends in management reports.

 

Network Commissioning & Maintenance

 

  • Oversee planning, quoting, manufacturing coordination, commissioning, and monitoring of new networks.
  • Manage maintenance, callouts, technician compliance, and required documentation.
  • Monitor RDC network performance and SMS maintenance responses.

 

Departmental Management & Process Control

 

  • Develop and improve departmental policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with approved product and system changes.
  • Oversee daily technical operations, stock control, inventory, risk management, and confidentiality.

 

Service & Repairs Department Oversight

 

  • Manage workflow and maintain a targeted 3-day repair turnaround time.
  • Monitor service standards, labour performance, quality, costs, and wastage.
  • Maintain a safe and secure working environment and review weekly operational reports.

 

Planning & Resource Allocation

 

  • Plan annual maintenance, upgrades, commissioning projects, and resource requirements.
  • Communicate plans effectively with management and relevant teams.

 

Training & Development

 

  • Conduct internal technical training and maintain current training materials.
  • Deliver structured customer training and support ongoing skills development.

 

Reporting & Communication

 

  • Prepare accurate weekly management and monthly EXCO reports.
  • Maintain effective communication with Production, Sales, Accounts, and Stores.

 

People Management

 

    • Assess staffing requirements and manage recruitment.
    • Define roles and responsibilities and oversee performance management.

 

Requirements:

 

        • Matric
        • Relevant tertiary qualification.
        • Strong technical background in electronic systems and network infrastructure.
        • Proven leadership and operational management experience.
        • Quality control and process improvement expertise.
        • Strong analytical and reporting capability.
        • Excellent customer engagement and communication skills.
