TECHNICAL DIRECTOR [HVAC&R]

 

Location: Durban 
 
Our client is seeking an experienced senior technical professional to be based in Durban and provide strategic and operational leadership across its technical and engineering functions.
 
This is a senior-level opportunity suited to an individual with strong experience in HVAC&R, engineering, manufacturing and/or product development, who can provide technical direction while working closely with commercial and operational stakeholders.

 

Responsibilties:

 

  • Provide strategic technical leadership across engineering and related technical functions.
  • Drive product development, technical improvement and innovation within the business.
  • Oversee engineering standards, technical processes, quality and risk management.
  • Support the ongoing improvement of manufacturing, production and technical processes.
  • Provide technical input into product testing, validation, performance and lifecycle management.
  • Support technical solutions relating to customer requirements, projects and applications.
  • Work closely with Operations, Sales, Quality and other key stakeholders to improve business and customer outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, energy performance and overall product quality.
  • Lead, mentor and develop technical teams, ensuring strong performance and accountability.
  • Provide senior-level technical input into business strategy, projects and investment decisions

Requirements:

 

  • Relevant engineering qualification, ideally in Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC&R, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years’ relevant senior-level experience in a technical, engineering, manufacturing, R&D or product environment.
  • A solid track record within the HVAC&R, engineering or manufacturing sector, with experience operating at a senior technical level.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and work across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Experience driving technical improvements, new product initiatives or engineering projects from concept through to implementation.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to engage confidently with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound technical and business decisions.
  • ECSA registration or equivalent professional accreditation would be an advantage.
