SENIOR QUALITY ENGINEER [AUTOMOTIVE AND MANUFACTURING]

 

      • Our client is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join their team in Pinetown. The ideal candidate has 8-10 years of experience within the automotive and manufacturing sector and is ready for their next chapter.
    Responsibilities:

     

        • Engineering Leadership: Lead engineering projects, develop engineering strategy, provide technical direction, and mentor engineers/technicians.
        • Manufacturing Improvement: Improve production processes, increase OEE, reduce downtime and cycle times, and improve overall efficiency.
        • Project Management: Manage CAPEX projects from budgeting and business cases through procurement, installation, FAT/SAT and completion.
        • Equipment & Maintenance: Specify, install and commission machinery, investigate failures, and improve equipment reliability and lifecycle performance.
        • Continuous Improvement: Lead Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, root-cause analysis and CAPA initiatives while reducing waste.
        • Quality: Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and support APQP, PPAP, FMEA and Control Plans, audits and customer quality investigations.
        • HSE: Ensure engineering activities comply with OHS and machinery-safety requirements and promote safe working practices.
        • Cost Reduction: Identify opportunities to reduce engineering, maintenance and energy costs and assess project ROI.
        • Cross-functional Leadership: Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Toolroom, Supply Chain and Finance, as well as customers, suppliers and external consultants.

     

    Requirements:

     

                • 8–10 years’ engineering experience in automotive manufacturing.
                • A BEng/BSc/BTech in Mechanical Engineering.
                • Strong experience in manufacturing process optimisation and continuous improvement.
                • Proven ability to lead CAPEX projects from concept to implementation.
                • Experience with production equipment, automation and mechanical design.
                • Experience managing and mentoring engineering teams.
                • Strong understanding of automotive quality standards and customer requirements.
