A respected UK river conservation trust is looking for a Catchment Programme Manager to lead a major water-utility-funded catchment project. You’ll be in charge of delivering catchment-wide work that improves water quality, river health and sustainable land management. You’ll report to the Chief Executive and lead a growing team.
CATCHMENT PROGRAMME MANAGER
- Lead the delivery of the project to agreed timescales, budget and targets.
- Identify, commission and use evidence to decide which catchment interventions to deliver.
- Secure what each intervention needs before it starts: landowner agreements, stakeholder support and planning consent.
- Act as the main contact with the funder and build partnerships with farmers, local authorities and environmental organisations.
- Line manage project staff and coordinate the wider project team.
- Manage the budget, forecasts, funding claims and reports to the funder and the Board.
- Commission and oversee consultants and contractors.
- Identify new funding, including nature markets, so the project continues after the 4 years.
Requirements:
- Degree or equivalent experience in environmental management, ecology, water management, geography or a related field.
- Significant experience managing complex environmental or conservation projects.
- Knowledge of catchment management, water quality, river restoration or sustainable land management.
- Proven experience in stakeholder and partnership management.
- Experience managing budgets, contract compliance and reporting to funders.
- Line management or team leadership experience.
- Full UK driving licene and access to your own vehicle.
- Advantageous: a project management qualification (PRINCE2/APM), experience working with farmers and landowners, and knowledge of how water companies plan their investment programmes.
