QUALITY ENGINEER

Location: Durban

Our client, based in Durban, are looking for a Quality Engineer to join their team. The successful incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that the products meet the required quality standards, as well as developing processes and implementing standards to ensure that products and processes comply with safety regulations and meet the customer’s expectation.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Understand customer’s requirement on their Events and/or Milestones, cascade those requirements to internal and external suppliers to prepare their quality system or report to meet the requirements.
  • Develop sampling procedures, forms, and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
  • Lead Activity to analyse and to solve customer issues and develop corrective action at manufacturer.
  • Should be pro-actively involved in identifying and leading the improvement process and promote its use within the manufacturer.
  • Actively identify and promote continuous improvement, Quality Circles and 5S activities.
  • Acts as a customer representative and customer support contact
  • Analysis of customer complaints and development of reports within given lead time.
  • Root Cause analysis for Customer QPR’s as well as internal QPR’s
  • Training of Team members on continuously following SOP and Quality Inspection standards
  • Work with production to consolidate monthly report to Head office
  • Submit Monthly SDS to the customer and ensure suppliers submit SDS timeously monthly.
  • Support Production department in meeting Quality requirements
  • Lead Customer Warranty investigation and reporting of findings
  • Conduct Internal and Supplier Audits when applicable
  • ECI management for Quality department
  • Conduct trials for new projects
  • Attend Projects meetings and ensure readiness for Quality requirements
  • Prepare SQAM Documents
  • Parts Measurements
  • Tool and CF Buy-off
  • VA/VE Activities

 

Requirements:

 

  • Matric
  • Relevant Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a Quality Engineer or similar role.
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the automotive industry (advantageous)
  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEAs, SPCs, as well as IATF 16949:2016
  • Knowledge on how to navigate CAD Software
  • Understanding of 2D/3D Technical Drawings
  • Basic Programme Management Tracking Skills (Drawing Up Of Timing Plans)
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual with given tasks
  • Strong work ethic
