Location: Ekurhuleni (East Rand)

Our Manufacturing client is looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to join their team. Applicants need to be available immediately. The Procurement & Stores Supervisor will oversee the company's buying and sourcing activities. They will be responsible for daily purchasing, maintaining existing supplier database, and sourcing new/additional suppliers - without compromising on quality.

Candidates need to come from a Manufacturing / Engineering background (steel fabrication, consumer goods manufacturing) and have dealt with raw material purchasing up to finished goods.




Procurement duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Reporting directly to Production Manager.
  • All procurement duties for the Factory:
  • Sourcing of materials, their availability and negotiating best pricing.
  • Processing of requisitions.
  • Creation and issuing of purchase orders.
  • Develop, lead and execute procurement strategies.
  • Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power.
  • Supplier management:
  • Supplier evaluation and sourcing; continuous development of supplier list to compete with current suppliers.
  • Supplier contract/SLA management.
  • Tender compilation and management relating to costings and procurement.
  • Utilising of BBBEE strategy with local procurement.
  • Monthly reporting on purchasing figures.
  • All the communication, negotiation, documentation related to purchasing.
  • Administration related to buying function:
  • Invoicing;
  • Handling all quotations;
  • Purchase orders;
  • GRNs.

Stores duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring of stock levels/inventory control.
  • Monthly stock order forecasting.
  • Assess, manage and mitigate risks relating to stock.
  • Receiving and dispatch: manage timing and delivery of stock orders.
  • Continuous improvement; enhanced internal controls and procedures.
  • Management of Stores team.
  • Monthly reporting:
  • Current stock levels;
  • Forecasted stock levels;
  • Variance reports;
  • ‘Per site’ purchasing reports;
  • Cost savings initiatives;
  • Supplier performance;
  • Stock availability.




  • Must have at least Grade 12, with Mathematics and English.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a purchasing position looking after a monthly spend greater than R10 Million.
  • Must be technically minded with experience in a technical/manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using Syspro.
  • Computer Literacy in Excel and Word is a must.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA standards related to Factory Production work.
  • Must have knowledge of ISO 9001 standard and procedures.
  • Willing to work extended hours.
  • Able to work independently.
