Location: Durban

Our client is an industry leading company in the FMCG industry that is currently looking for an Outbound Logistics Manager to join their warehouse in Durban.




  • Coordinate and process outbound orders, ensuring accuracy and time efficiency.
  • Verify order details, including product specifications, quantities, and shipping addresses.
  • Select appropriate carriers and shipping methods based on cost, delivery time, and product requirements.
  • Negotiate contracts and rates with carriers, freight forwarders, and other transportation providers.
  • Monitor carrier performance and address any issues or delays in transportation.
  • Optimise inventory turnover and minimize stockouts or overstocks.
  • Ensure that products are properly packaged and labeled for shipping.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to outbound logistics.
  • Ensure that outbound logistics activities adhere to legal and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as sales, customer service, and manufacturing to coordinate logistics activities seamlessly.
  • Provide staff with clear direction in their jobs through individual / team objective setting.
  • Break down complex tasks into manageable parts to distribute to staff in a systematic way.
  • Keep other team members informed of relevant issues and timeously.
  • Identify and manage risk within the supply chain.




  • A Bachelor Degree focused on Logistics, Materials and Supply Chain Management (B. Com); a post graduate qualification in Supply Chain and Logistics will be an advantage.
  • At least 5 - 10 years related work experience in a FMCG warehouse environment.
  • Demonstrate a history of working in the logistics and supply chain industry.
  • Skilled in negotiations (unionised environment), management and project management.
  • Experienced and skilled in Warehouse Management (WMS), SCALE/SAP systems and Project planning.
  • Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Experience with delivery route planning (Trackmatic/DPS/Pickup)
  • Strong operations professional focused on continuous improvement.
  • Must be organised, able to prioritise, work long hours and be able to work under pressure
