Location: Pinetown

Our manufacturing client is looking for a Maintenance, Projects & HSE Manager to join their team. The purpose of this role is to manage maintenance and engineering projects for the various manufacturing sites as well as oversee the safety portfolio for the company and ensure the company is compliant with HSE guidelines and legislation.



Maintenance Management:

  • Oversee the maintenance function for the various sites.
    Run Maintenance Management systems such as PM Programs, Reactive Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance and execute the implementation of e-maintenance.
    Support the maintenance team with troubleshooting activities for maintenance issues.
    Develop and maintain site critical spares program.
    Design the AMC program for required assets.
    Conduct FMEA for critical equipment.

Projects Management:

  • Responsible for managing and supporting the project activities for all the plants and warehouse locations.
    Hiring of suitable contractors required for the projects within company policies and guidelines.

Team Management:

  • Manage the team and encourage high moral to get maximum output in order to achieve organisational goals.
  • Develop and implement a skills matrix program in order to upskill the team.
  • Responsible for overall staff management such as recruitment, training, disciplinary action etc.

HSE Compliance:

  • Ensure and Follow the PTW for all the non-routine activities for project and maintenance work on site.
    Ensure that the safety critical equipment site maintenance program is adhered to without fail.
    Ensure that all the personnel performing the maintenance and project related work on site is trained in the health and safety procedures.

Contractor Management:

  • Manage all the Annual maintenance contractors on site and provide them with a clear scope of work.
    Ensure that contractors follow site safety rules and regulations.
    Ensure that suitably trained personnel conduct the job or work at hand.

Legal Compliance:

  • Complete all the requirements of Form-9, Form-10, Form-11 and Form-26AS as per the schedule and comply with all equipment rules.

Work Place Safety & Process Safety Management: 

  • Ensure the HSE & PSM aspects across the sites are adhered to and safety training takes place across the organisation.
  • Ensure adherence to all HSE statutory compliance.
  • Oversee waste management and legal record keeping for all plants.
  • Ensure the implementation of organisational HSE standards across all plants.
  • Ensure appropriate corrective action on audit findings.
  • Conduct HSE committee meetings at plant level as per statutory requirements.
  • Evaluation of training reports of all employees in consultation with the HR department.
  • Updating of site safety statistics in EXP Software and maintenance of all records of training and analysis reports.
  • Reporting of incidents in the EXP software and initiating RCA and recommendations.
  • Preparation of MIS reports related to safety for all plants.
  • Support operational excellence initiatives and act as guide and mentor for organisational cultural transformation activities such as 5S, Lean Work Practices, Safety Kai-Zens etc.




  • Relevant engineering related qualification.
  • Proven experience managing the engineering function/team within a manufacturing environment.
  • Solid working experience in PLC/SCADA and calibration programs.
  • Working knowledge of batch processing and handling of flamable chemicals would be advantageous
