LOGISTICS COORDINATOR

Location: Durban

Our client based in Durban is looking for a Logistics Coordinator to join their team. The incumbent will be responsible for strategically planning and managing all contractors / service providers i.e., transportation, warehousing, cargo quality surveyors and shipping agents in order to ensure that all products are correctly and effectively shipped as per production plans / targets.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Coordinate with loading point, transporter, warehouse and port to achieve the daily / weekly / monthly received and dispatch targets.
  • Working with Senior management to set daily / weekly / monthly targets.
  • Executing the set plan with the support of the contractors / service providers.
  • Communicate frequently with multiple stakeholders to have live performance information.
  • Decision making to achieve daily targets.
  • Develop effective relationships and monitor performance and costs of transport, contractors / service providers and clearing agents.
  • Oversee the transporter’s route planning and tracking of all vehicles.
  • Handling and ensuring that all daily recons of stock is delivered correctly.
  • Managing and adjusting stock requirements from mine.
  • Risk management and mitigation by accurately identify risks affecting supply, delivery, and customer demand.
  • Responsible for inventory control and warehousing.
  • Ensure that appropriate export procedures, documents and processes are followed at all times and in line with current legislative requirements.
  • Arrange warehouse, plan routes and process shipments and track record of receiving material into warehouse and loading of bulk onto vessel for export purposes.
  • Resolve any arising problems or complaints.
  • Oversee contractors / service providers comply with laws, regulations and ISO requirements.
  • Oversee engage and manage service provider in all quality related matters i.e., quality surveyor appointed for vessel loading and have sound knowledge and experience of ISO standards and methods for sampling during bulk vessel loading.
  • Oversee daily quality reporting to senior management team.
  • Ensuring the Company’s Health & Safety policy is applied effectively in area of control.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Relevant tertiary qualification.
  • 5 – 10 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • A clear understanding of Incoterms, processes, and procedures of exporting.
  • Must have effective communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and work overtime where required.
  • Working knowledge of logistics and imports/exports(road, air, and sea).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word / Excel / Outlook).
  • Knowledge of ERP Systems (with Sage ACCPAC experience being advantageous).
  • Ability to build customer relationships
