INLAND PRODUCT CONSULTANT

Location: Gauteng

Our client, based in Gauteng, is looking for a Inland Product Consultant to join their team.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Achieve sales volumes and gross margin targets as determined by the annual budget.
  • Ensure knowledge and awareness around sales / gross margin / product group sales requirements.
  • Implement and manage the overall pricing strategy per distributor as determined by company.
  • Implement and manage the overall distribution management system as determined by company.
  • Maintain a high level of activity at your customers - whilst managing a healthy end user / distributor split.
  • Guide, support and train distributor and end users on products, technical information and relevant standards and test methods.
  • Host regular training days / webinars for the distributors and end users in your portfolio. This must be in line with minimum requirements.
  • Apply the principles of the end users strategy and sell on value over price at both end user and distributor level.
  • Be proactive in identifying and executing growth areas, new opportunities and initiatives at both end user and distributor level.
  • Ensure technical, range and overall product knowledge is up to the company's standard as industry leaders.
  • Accurate management of product samples - control and follow-up to ensure feedback and success.
  • Support the Marketing function - brand awareness and exposure, public relations opportunities, ensure all distributors adhere to corporate image regulations.
  • Support by providing market information (end users / competitors etc.) / product requirements and evaluations / launches / positioning / trials / feedback.
  • Update activity schedule daily / support cross-functional communication / support internal sales communication.
  • Manage employee expenses responsibly and on time / ensure adherence to all internal policies and procedures.
  • Frequently reaching out to colleagues, internal sales and line manager to ensure constant open dialogue and sharing of information.
  • Support all new product launches as per the strategy laid out by marketing / product management / sales management.
  • Ensure support in trialling potential new products; ensure support in communicating potential product issues.
  • Ensure support in terms of discontinued product strategies, range rationalisation and re-positioning.
  • Ensure all internal marketing processes are followed in terms of spend / approvals PR exercises and corporate image requirements.
  • Communicate all distributor and end user marketing requirements through to marketing department - PR / sales tools.
  • Ensure all company policies and processes are adhered to timeously and accurately such as: activity reporting, sample orders, log sheets, expense forms, leave applications, pricing proposals and marketing spend proposals.

Requirements:

 

  • Matric
  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Ability to navigate new systems, reports, and detailed excel data on both a laptop and smartphone.
  • Valid driver's license with ability and willingness to travel regularly and at length
  • Strong selling skills and sound sales experience and track record.
