Our shipping Client, based in Cape Town, is looking for an experienced Freight Manager to join their team.




  • Finance reporting – invoicing in LMS.
  • Container vs booking report in LMS.
  • Check dangerous cargo suspicious report and verify where applicable
  • Check intra bookings / intra shipping instruction report and forwarding same to marketing / exports to action
  • Check LSR report in LMS add-on to ensure that correct LSR is reflecting in the RFA’s
  • Daily duty reporting
  • Handling queries for imports / exports / marketing when staff unable too, or query is escalated to management
  • Handle demurrage.
  • Assist in filing import RFA’s to meet month end deadlines
  • Assist by requesting approval from trade / WARO once RFA has been filed.
  • Responsible for monthly reports.
  • Following up with staff repayment of invoices older than 7 days.
  • Authorising all supplier invoices – done same day as invoice is received from finance department.
  • Assist with eft allocations when required.
  • Review and distribute landside tariffs yearly or more frequently as required by the MD.
  • Negotiate new cartage rates from haulers (empty / full) and on-pass to MD for approval. In conjunction with Logistics Dept.
  • Respond to rate of exchange report as necessary.
  • Bill of Lading checking and signing
  • Assist Marketing as and when required and maintaining customer relationships.
  • Coordinate and visit key authorities (Customs, states warehouse, depots, etc) to build relationships and discuss issues – Quarterly with respective Import and Export Freight Supervisors.
  • Assist with day to day smooth running of the branch whilst ensuring that company policy and procedure is adhered to.
  • Active involvement in Freight Department.
  • Assisting Freight Staff to complete daily tasks when required.




  • Matric
  • Degree or dipoma will be beneficial.
  • 6 - 10 years experience in shipping/freight.
  • Computer literate.
  • Extensive knowledge of freight, marketing, agency, liner and admin processes.
  • People management skills.
  • Strong customer relations
